*** This workshop is open to 10 postdocs *** 

The NRMN Research Mentor Training workshop is designed to help research mentors maximize the effectiveness of their mentoring relationships. During this workshop participants will have the opportunity to: 

- discuss mentoring challenges with their peers and share best practices 
- explore how to effectively communicate with their mentees, align research project and program experience expectations 
- mentor people from diverse backgrounds 
- assess the extent to which mentees understand their own research projects. 

The National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN) is an NIH effort whose mission is to provide trainees across STEM with evidence based, culturally-aware mentorship and professional development with the goal of diversifying the workforce.

Bio: Dr. Anne Lynn Gillian-Daniel is the Director of Education and Outreach for the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Gillian-Daniel works to broaden participation of underrepresented groups in STEM fields. She has developed and led workshops designed to help researchers improve their understanding of issues around equity and inclusion. Dr. Gillian-Daniel has been an NRMN Master Facilitator since 2015 and uses this experience to facilitate research mentor training for graduate students, postdocs, and faculty interested in mentoring.
