Media Relations professionals work at the interface between scientists and the general press. They handle press inquiries, write for the organization's outlets, produce science content to publicize research and handle social media.
Meet three professionals with unique career paths working at different organizations to discover if this is a career you would be interested in!
Carly Britton is a Media and Communications Manager at Cell Press, with a background in science writing. She has previously worked as a research assistant and freelance writer.
Meghan Rosen, PhD is a Media Relations Manager at Howard Hughes Medical Institute,. she followed her PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a Certificate in Science Writing. She has also worked as a science writer for Science News.
Lucky Tran, PhD is the Director of Science Communication and Media Relations at Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He has a PhD in Biochemistry and has worked as a science reporter and communicator.
This session will start with questions from the organizers and end on live audience questions (you may submit in advance!).
